Music Program

We have a growing music program here at Zion. Each grade level, from 3yr. old preschool thru 6th grade has 30 minutes of music class twice a week. During class, we learn a variety of grade appropriate concepts and skills using a vast array of curriculum and teacher-made resources. Then in the seventh and eighth grades, students put those valuable skills to good use playing hand bells!

The goal of our music program is first and foremost to praise God with our singing and playing. It is also very important that the students learn to love music, have fun, and learn the basic principles behind reading, making, and performing music. Students will learn music notation and basic theory through daily activities and written work. Students will also learn how their body is an instrument through fun exercises and practice! Students will develop their abilities to perform music, both vocal and instrumental, and will be given many opportunities to showcase what they have learned. Each year students will perform for church services and chapel services, as well as, perform in a Christmas Play and a Spring Musical! Music is considered an important part of the students’ academic learning and we encourage them to try their best!
